Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday announced the dedication of a major project that removed an underutilized, two-mile stretch of the former Robert Moses Parkway - now called the Niagara Scenic Parkway - in the City of Niagara Falls. His team said this work created a stunning new area in Niagara Falls State Park called "Gorgeview," which provides unimpeded access to the Niagara Gorge and improved recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike.

At 8:16 a.m. today, the Niagara Falls Police Department responded to a man shot at Niagara Metal, located at 4861 Packard Drive. When officers arrived, they found a Niagara County man deceased from a gunshot wound.

FeedMore WNY is expanding its efforts to assist older adults in applying for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) - formerly known as food stamps. The hunger-relief nonprofit is one of 40 organizations throughout the country to receive a $50,000 grant from the National Council on Aging (NCOA) to enhance access to SNAP for qualifying low-income older adults through community-based outreach and enrollment initiatives.

Kleinhans Music Hall announced a special summer recital by the Russian pianist Alexander Malofeev at 7 pm. Saturday, July 17. The recital is made possible by the support of Harold J. and Sandra S. Utility arrears assistance may also be available in some cases.

The "100 Deadliest Days" is the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when fatal teen crashes increase dramatically. Nationwide, more than 7,038 people died in crashes involving teen drivers during the "100 Deadliest Days" over a 10-year period from 2010-19. That's more than seven people a day each summer.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed legislation (S.448/A.2014) allowing veterans to qualify for state benefits after a diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder, a traumatic brain injury or disclosure of military sexual trauma from any person licensed to provide health care services in New York. Previously, veterans had to be diagnosed by a provider at the Department of Veteran Affairs.
