An Advent silent guided weekend retreat will take place at Stella Niagara's Center of Renewal in Lewiston. The event will run from Friday evening dinner through Sunday lunch, Dec. 3-5, and will include Advent prayers, periods of silence with moments of reflective and contemplative time, along with scheduled conferences, group sharing and prayer chants, and personal reflective questions for use all throughout Advent leading up to Christmas.

Empire State Wrestling comes back to its old stomping grounds in Niagara County - and brings back its traditional Thanksgiving Weekend super event with "Wrestlebash" on Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Frontier Fire Hall, 2176 Liberty Drive, Niagara Falls. This is the first Empire State Wrestling event in Niagara County in two years, and the first ESW event at the Frontier Fire Hall in three years.

Everyone loves the lights of the holidays, and this year's "Buffalo/Niagara Holiday Light Show" at the Niagara County Fairgrounds is set to deliver fun for the entire family. Construction of dozens of towering displays with hundreds of colored lights is well underway. The show opens Nov. 19 with what organizers called "a safe, secure, drive-thru experience synchronized to holiday music through your car radio."

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Monday signed legislation that prohibits used car dealers from selling vehicles at retail without a functioning airbag. Her team said, "This bill is titled 'Anthony Amoros' Law' after a young man from Rockland who died in a car crash in a car that, unbeknownst to him, was sold to him without airbags. Under this legislation, certificates given to vehicle buyers must certify that the vehicle is equipped with an airbag, as well as a readiness indicator light that indicates the airbag is functioning."

Cline of Grand Island pleaded guilty on Friday afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to one count of aggravated cruelty to animals (a Class "E" felony). The defendant pleaded guilty to the only charge in the indictment against him.
