Structure fire in Wilson

On May 8, at approximately 7:05 p.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office dispatch center received multiple 911 calls reporting a possible residential structure fire at 23 Joshua Drive in the Town of Wilson. It was advised that heavy smoke was coming from a manufactured home in the Rainbow Mobile Home Park.

Helping the homeless

Four members of the Ridgewood Bible Church on Ridge Road assisted Lockport CARES Homeless Shelter by volunteering to help keep the shelter tidy and clean. Members spent many hours helping with spring cleaning of the interior of the home at 188 Genesee St., and aiding with lawn maintenance and mowing.

Gregory Robinson, the former director of the James Webb Space Telescope Program at NASA, and Niagara University alumnus Sam Goodwin, who spent nine weeks imprisoned in Syria, will address graduates at Niagara University's 2023 commencement ceremonies on May 11 and 13 at the outdoor amphitheater at Artpark in Lewiston. On May 18, Altaf Stationwala, president/CEO at Mackenzie Health, will provide the commencement address for NU's Ontario graduates, who will celebrate at a ceremony at the Meridian Centre.
