Administration expands SBA pilot program targeting access to capital for underserved entrepreneurs

Vice President Kamala Harris and Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), are announcing reforms to the agency's Community Advantage (CA) loan program, an SBA tool for Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), Community Development Companies (CDCs), microlenders and other mission-based lending partners, that prioritizes equitable access to capital for low-income borrowers and those from underserved communities.
DiNapoli: State education employment program for New Yorkers with disabilities falling short

The program run by the New York State Education Department (SED) to help New Yorkers with disabilities gain employment, transition to independent living, and rise out of poverty is not fulfilling its mission because it too often leaves participants with inadequate plans that do not accomplish those goals, according to an audit released by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.
Higgins announces 2-year U.S. Coast Guard reauthorization

Congressman Brian Higgins announced the House of Representatives approved legislation reauthorizing the U.S. Coast Guard through the end of 2023. The bill provides $12.8 billion for Coast Guard operation, maintenance, construction, research and staffing in 2022, and $13.9 billion for 2023.

In that period of time, she said her neighbors have been unable to enjoy their backyards because of persistent drainage issues and copious amounts of standing water.
