Islanders open Magpie's Bake Shop & Café in Tonawanda

Sisters Sarah Mallare and Christine Carr of Grand Island have opened a new bakery in the City of Tonawanda. Magpie's Bake Shop & Café, named after their mother, Christine "Maggie" Smith, recently celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting. Located at 38 Niagara St., they offer soups, pizza, cakes, pastries, many other baked goods.

Fidelis Care approved to offer Medicare Advantage products in Western New York

Fidelis Care, a statewide health plan with more than 900,000 members, today announced the expansion of its Medicare coverage area for 2014 into 12 new counties, including five in Western New York. Fidelis Care recently received approval for the expansion by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
