The Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday announced the team will partner with Coca-Cola and Delaware North to raise funds for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Sabres' games on March 4 vs. the Edmonton Oilers, March 14 vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins, and March 31 vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets.

National Grid's Western New York field force of more than 1,500 workers has successfully restored power to 98 percent of the nearly 88,000 customers impacted by the damaging windstorm that pummeled the region on Sunday and Monday. The remaining 1,500 customers without service in the hardest hit neighborhoods of Buffalo, Niagara Falls and surrounding areas are expected to have power restored hour-by-hour as crews continue to work around the clock. The company's extensive resources will remain in the region until the last outage is repaired.

NYSEG and RG&E, subsidiaries of AVANGRID, continue to respond to outages resulting from extreme winds that continue to sweep across New York state. These wind conditions have resulted in flying debris, trees uprooting and significant damage to NYSEG and RG&E equipment. More than 101,000 NYSEG and RG&E customers have been impacted by the wind storm. As of 1 p.m., more than 17,000 NYSEG and RG&E customers are without power, with the largest concentration of outages (7,300) in Erie County in NYSEG's Lancaster division.

The Buffalo Beauts were the hottest team in the NWHL, winning five straight games prior to the league's All-Star break in mid-February. They returned to the ice Saturday for their first game in 21 days and picked up right where they left off, skating to a 4-1 victory over the Metropolitan Riveters in front 1,572 fans on Fan Appreciation Night. It was the team's largest crowd at Harborcenter this season.

The empty trailer ban on the I-90, both directions between Exit 31-PA State Line and I-190, is still in effect. All empty tractor-trailers (including empty long and short tandems) will be prohibited from traveling on the thruway system from the Pennsylvania state line to Interchange 31 Utica (including all of I-190), both directions.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Saturday announced the deployment of state resources to the Western New York and Finger Lakes regions in advance of a weather system this weekend that will bring extremely strong winds that could result in property damage and power outages. Winds are expected to gust at or above 45 mph much of Sunday night and Monday over the vast majority of the state, with gusts approaching 75 mph at times in Western New York and western portions of the North Country.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Saturday issued a letter to the International Joint Commission calling on the IJC to maximize Lake Ontario outflows to prevent flooding along New York's shoreline. Lake Ontario levels are significantly higher than average, and high winds over the weekend threaten to create significant wave action and exacerbate the threat even further.

It's been 14 years since the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons boys basketball team has reached Buffalo State to play in the Section VI semifinals.
On Saturday, the team punched its ticket to return to the venue, as the No. 6 Falcons defeated No. 3 North Tonawanda, 58-49, in the Class A1 quarterfinals.
