It's hard to believe the Niagara-Wheatfield athletics season is already through one month. The teams have reached homecoming week, which includes themed days, the always competitive pindodge game, powder puff football and, of course, the Friday night lights football game. With that, here's how the Falcons teams are shaping up heading into homecoming on Saturday.

The Niagara-Wheatfield Board of Education meeting to be held on Oct. 3 will begin at 6 p.m. with an anticipated executive session. The public meeting is anticipated to begin at 7 p.m. The meeting is held in the High School Adult Learning Center, 2292 Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn.

On Monday night, the Town of Wheatfield Town Board met for its second regular board meeting of the month. The meeting was rather light with Supervisor Don MacSwan and Town Attorney Matt Brooks not in attendance, but Councilman Larry Helwig sat in for MacSwan to take care of some town business.

Fitch Ratings has affirmed strong credit on the New York Power Authority's electric revenue bonds, providing ratings among the highest given to public electric utilities. Fitch affirmed an AA rating for more than $800 million of NYPA long-term bonds and notes, as well as an F1+ rating for NYPA's commercial paper program.

Gerrard P. Bushell, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), announced nearly $10 million in upgrades have been completed at SUNY Buffalo State, Alfred State College and the University at Buffalo.
