Thu, Sep 27th 2018 12:55 pm
Required for all discharge permits, open to all
Hunting season is almost here and the Firearms Permit Review Board of Wheatfield will give its annual muzzleloader course at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Wheatfield Community Center located behind the Wheatfield Town Hall. A certificate will be issued to those taking this course as a requirement for a muzzleloader discharge permit. There is no course fee.
The course is open to anyone 14 years and older (14-17 with parent/adult) interested in muzzleloading, with young adults and women being welcome as well. For those interested in taking the course, sign up or call the town clerk's office at 694-6441. With its prime focus on firearm safety, the Wheatfield has firearms law 1-1975, amended July 15, 2002, which prohibits all rifle discharge within town limits except by permit.
Copies of the firearms law with area maps are available at the Town Clerks office.
