Tom Fogarty, the new general manager at Fuccillo Auto Group on Grand Island, is no stranger to the car business. A 38-year veteran of the industry, he has been a general manager with Toyota in Buffalo for 19 of the past 20 years. He now oversees all three of the Fuccillo dealerships on the Island - Toyota, Chevrolet and Hyundai.

On a recent late January afternoon when skiing, snowboarding or sledding were the optimum outdoor activities, Gregory D. Stevens, Michelle Lockett and Jim Sharpe were talking about bicycling and hiking on Grand Island and the urgency to bring together New York state, Erie County and Grand Island officials to create a plan to improve bike lanes, connect trails and position the Island as a true ecotourism destination.

DeGlopper was a 22-year-old United States Army soldier fighting for his country on June 9, 1944, during the Battle of Normandy campaign in World War II when he was compelled to make a split-second decision that ultimately cost him his life as he was killed in action protecting his fellow soldiers.

St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral clergy will be in Cathedral Park to offer "ashes-to-go," Communion and blessings to all who walk b on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17. "Ashes-to-go" times are 7:30-9 a.m., noon to 1 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. To honor COVID-19 precautionary measures, all ashes will be distributed in small containers for individuals to self impose.

Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp. met and affirmed the general project plan (GPP) for the Buffalo Outer Harbor civic and land use improvement project with minor modifications. This affirmation of the GPP is the culmination of six years of planning, community engagement and coordination with the City of Buffalo and other entities and outlines future improvements to the city's Lake Erie waterfront that will build on earlier upgrades recently completed by ECHDC.

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens announced last year it will offer the traditional, on-site make-it, take-it programs as take-it, make-it virtual programs to be held online via Zoom. These one-night workshops include a succulent garden workshop, a terrarium workshop and a mini-garden workshop. Also brand new to the educational programs are botanical demonstrations. These low-cost, one-hour demonstrations will cover orchid repotting, spring floral arrangements and a bonsai demonstration.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday announced the state has administered over 2,136,209 vaccine doses through the state's vaccination program. The total week 8 federal allocation of vaccine delivery to providers was to be completed yesterday. As of 11 a.m. Sunday, New York's health care distribution sites had received 1,874,975 first doses and already administered 87% (1,627,191) of first dose vaccinations and 76% of first and second doses. Delivery of the week 9 allocation from the federal government begins mid-week.

On Feb. 6 at 10:14 hours, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting an accident on the sledding hill at the Clyde L. Burmaster Park in the Town of Lewiston. Responding members of the Town of Lewiston Police Department and Niagara County Sheriff's Office located and confirmed two injured parties, a 16-year-old female and a 3-year-old male. The two were apparently riding a sledding tube when they struck a tree at the bottom of the hill.
