Driving down Cayuga Street in the Village of Lewiston, one will see the new Tops Xpress store and fuel station is still a work in progress. The project is expected to be completed by Monday, March 21, for a soft opening.

The 42nd Olcott Polar Bear Day Swim for Sight was held Sunday, March 6, in Olcott Beach. Overnight snow and a raw wind from the north kept the crowd down a bit from past years, but 744 swimmers braved three-foot waves and a 35-degree water temperature to raise money for the Olcott Lions Club.

The Niagara Hospice Alliance wrapped up its 2011 Spring Bouquet Sale last Saturday at businesses and organizations throughout Niagara County. Throughout last week, for a donation of $8 people walked away with a beautiful and fragrant mixed bouquet of flowers.

Town of Lewiston Councilman Mike Marra outlined a plan Monday to radically transform Marilyn Toohey Park behind the Red Brick Municipal Building on North Fourth Street. He presented a packet of information to the Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees detailing the creation of a new playground, a refurbished basketball court and a standalone unisex bathroom.

The election of the 2011 Wheatfield Business Association's officers and board members was held at the annual Christmas/Holiday party on Dec. 13 at the Meeting Place in Bergholz. The newly elected Wheatfield Business Association 2011 officers and board members were sworn into office by Wheatfield Supervisor Robert Cliffe at the Feb. 17 meeting held in the Wheatfield Community/Senior Center.
