It's been a long and impressive season for the Niagara-Wheatfield girls track and field team, and recently the season got a little better. 
NCCC Alumni Association to set sail on Moondance Catamaran

Set sail with the Niagara County Community College Alumni Association on the Moondance Catamaran from 3:45-5:30 P.M. Friday, June 21. Guests are asked to meet near "The Hatch" at 329 Erie St. The event is open to NCCC alumni, NCCC employees, and friends of the college. Proceeds will support the NCCC Alumni Association.

Senior Warren McDougald from Niagara-Wheatfield High School was awarded The Destroyer Award, Monday night at the annual Ilio DiPaolo Scholarship Award dinner in Blasdell. The award is named after the late professional wrestler Dick Beyer, who passed away in March.

This past week, Niagara County Community College hosted three public forums to introduce its presidential candidates. The forums also gave attendees the chance to ask the candidates questions they may have regarding the college. Following the remarks, attendees filled out a survey, which judged several categories of the presentation.
Niagara University's College of Education receives grant to help support summer STEM program

Niagara University's College of Education has received a $60,000, two-year grant from National Grid to help support the college's summer STEM camp initiative. The camps, now in their 11th year, are intended to engage young people in the practical application of science, technology, engineering and math, and to learn about careers in the STEM fields.

In 2009, the Erie County Agricultural Society inaugurated its award-winning Erie County Fair Camp program with the goal to stimulate an interest in agriculture, a passion for learning and foster a love of the Erie County Fair. In the 11 years of its existence, more than 350 children and their parents have slept overnight in a barn, assisted with farm chores, showed animals in a livestock competition and worked inside a fair food concession.

Gonyea wins ADK scholarship

On April 13, Niagara-Wheatfield ADK held its annual Fashion Show. The fashions, modeled by ADK members, were provided by Talbots of the Fashion Outlets Mall. Proceeds from the event go to the annual scholarship for a Niagara-Wheatfield student.  This year, the scholarship was won by Olivia Gonyea.
