The Buffalo Sabres on Friday announced the team will host fans at KeyBank Center four more times during the 2020-21 season. Based on updated guidance from New York state, fans will have additional options for entering KeyBank Center, making it easier to attend the remaining games this season. Each fan who attends a game will need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus antigen or molecular (RT-PCR/TMA) COVID-19 test result.

The U.S. Small Business Administration is increasing the maximum amount small businesses and nonprofit organizations can borrow through its COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. Starting the week of April 6, the SBA is raising the loan limit for the COVID-19 EIDL program from six months of economic injury with a maximum loan amount of $150,000 to up to 24 months of economic injury with a maximum loan amount of $500,000.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday announced the Buffalo Heritage Carousel project at Canalside is nearing completion. A steel frame, the organ and the carousel itself are being installed inside the new timber frame building at Canalside. When complete, the historic De Angelis Carousel will be a year-round, family-friendly attraction for the Buffalo waterfront, building on the popularity of the Explore & More Children's Museum and many other activities for visitors of all ages. The carousel is planned to open this summer.

On Friday, the Buffalo City Mission officially opened its new Community Center at 100 E. Tupper St. Known as the Alfiero Family Center of Hope and Promise, the 75,000-square-foot facility will provide preventative services to those who are on the brink of homelessness and many already experiencing homelessness.

The Erie County Department of Health on Friday announced five specimens collected from Erie County residents in January have been identified as containing COVID-19 "California variants." This comes from the genetic sequencing of nearly 1,000 specimens by the interdisciplinary team at the University at Buffalo's New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences.

Appeal 2021, in support of Catholic Charities of Buffalo and the Fund for the Faith, reached its halfway point this week, just before Appeal Sunday, March 28. Appeal officials announced the annual campaign has raised $5,425,595, which is 54.2% of the $10 million goal - ahead of the percent to goal over the past four years.
