The Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry has announced the return of Santa Land to Chestnut Ridge Park. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, and Sunday, Dec. 10. The Parks Department is partnering with the Chestnut Ridge Conservancy and the Town of Orchard Park Recreation Department again this year to present the popular weekend event, which features free family activities to brighten the holiday spirit.

Playing two games in as many nights demands a lot out of basketball players from high school to pros. On Tuesday night, the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons played their second of three games in a row. Fatigue was shown early, but as the game went along, the Falcons seemed to gain energy and pull through for their second straight win.
The Falcons defeated the Starpoint Spartans on the road, 48-41, behind a huge comeback run in the third quarter.

Many people seem to get the term "gamer" very, very wrong. When it comes to gamers, of course, there are three distinct types: the casual gamers, who "hit the sticks" occasionally; the committed gamer, who spends a reasonable amount of time gaming; and the hardcore gamer, who literally lives in the game. The City of Niagara Falls, Old Falls Street, The Conference & Event Center, Destination Niagara Falls USA and Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino hosted a grand tree-lighting ceremony Saturday to celebrate the season and kickoff the new Jingle Falls promotion. The event took place at Seneca Square (in front of Seneca Niagara), and featured a performance by Michael Cavanaugh of Broadway's "Movin' Out" before the light switch was turned on illuminating a 35-foot Blue Spruce.

He struts around the stage with pride flags and water bottles, and sings "Happy Birthday" to an audience member.

There's no time to rest for the Niagara men's hockey team, as working toward success is time-consuming. The team meets for skating Monday through Thursday and workouts take place Monday through Wednesday. On Fridays, the team has games, so the skates are optional.
