Rochester-bound: North Tonawanda wins Section VI Class A title

On Dec. 30, the Amherst Tigers got the best of the North Tonawanda Lumberjacks, defeating them 49-45. On Tuesday, when the two teams battled again for the Section VI Class A title, it was a different story.

Transformational enhancements begin at Fort Niagara State Park

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced work has begun on a series of transformational enhancements at Fort Niagara State Park in Youngstown. The work underway includes a brand-new, $2.7-million pool bathhouse and new boat docks for the 830,000-plus visitors who frequent the popular Niagara County state park every year.

The Lewiston Choraleers will present an Easter cantata at four area churches April 8, 9, 14 and 15. The cantata, "A Journey to Hope" by Joseph Martin, is a sacred work musically inspired by traditional spirituals and tells of the ministry, passion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In front of a packed gym at Buffalo State College, fans got to witness history in the Section VI Class A-1 title game. The North Tonawanda Lumberjacks defeated the No. 1 seed Williamsville South Billies, 60-54, on Saturday. The win is NT's fifth title and first since 1961.
