The Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons hockey team has been through it all this season. Coming off the previous season where they didn't make the sectional final; a middle of the season where they weren't playing their best hockey; a historic end of the season run; and the tragic loss of a classmate mixed into four months was just tidbits of what the Falcons went through. After the tragedy in the community, the team uplifted many Wheatfield spirits with a run to the New York state large schools championship. Unfortunately, good things come to an end, and on Sunday evening, the Falcons were defeated by the No. 1 team in New York state, the Victor Blue Devils, 5-1.

HS Basketball: Niagara Falls upset in Far West Regional

It was a season many believed could be "the year" for the Niagara Falls Wolverines basketball team. The team compiled one of their best seasons in recent history and hopes were high. The hopes and dreams of the state tournament are now let to be "what if's?" The Wolverines were defeated by the McQuaid Knights, 65-57, in the Far West Regional game at Buffalo State.

The Niagara-Wheatfield community has been down in the dumps the last few days, but Saturday morning, the Falcons hockey team gave some joy to those hurting. The Falcons defeated the North Rockland Raiders in the New York state semifinals, 4-0.

Schneiderman issued a consumer alert, notifying New Yorkers of a new scam in which New Yorkers receive calls from potential fraudsters who threaten to harm the New Yorkers' family members if they do not pay a ransom. New Yorkers should immediately contact the New York State Police at 1-800-GIVETIP.

Niagara County Builders reveal name change, strategic plan

The Niagara County Builders Association is set to reveal a new name, a new direction and a new perspective on the construction industry in Niagara on March 14 at G-Mac's in Sanborn. The association has been in Niagara County since 1943 as a chapter of the National Association of Home Builders. The organization will still be a chapter of NAHB under the new name Niagara Region Construction Alliance.

Morinello looks to reintroduce daylight savings bill

Last year, GOP Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello introduced a bill to eliminate daylight savings time in New York. Federal law allows states to opt out of daylight savings time, and many New Yorkers have told him they hope to see an end to this time change.
