The CW Network presented its 2018-19 primetime schedule to advertisers, affiliates, and press at the New York City Center in New York City, with the Platinum-selling American rock band 30 Seconds to Mars opening the show with a performance of their new hit songs "Rescue Me" and "Walk on Water." Expanding to a six-night, Sunday-Friday schedule this fall, The CW will have 12 hours of original scripted series across the week in primetime this fall, more than ABC, NBC or FOX.

The Town of Lewiston Town Council held an executive session Monday night. Board members discussed the Frontier House, which led some in the community to speculate the municipality was again interested in purchasing the 194-year-old Center Street property.

The Village of Lewiston Planning Commission on Monday voted unanimously to approve site plan changes at the Ellicott Development plaza site on Center, North Eighth and Onondaga streets. Specifically, members accepted a proposal to re-subdivide adjoining property located behind the building housing tenants including Vincenzo's Pizza House and Sue's Frame of Mind.

Such was heard by attending Lake Ontario waterfront property owners on Wednesday at a Ransomville session on updates to long delays in awaited state reimbursement funding to damage victims of last year's lakeshore flooding and erosion. It was the second such meeting held to discuss funding delays.

Old Fort Niagara welcomes the public to its "Soldiers through the Ages" military history re-enactment event on Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27, over Memorial Day weekend. This annual event features special displays of military vehicles, period camps from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, weapons demonstrations, uniform programs and hands-on activities for families. In commemoration of the centennial of the Battle of Cantigny in World War I, a special program will also be presented in the Fort Niagara Officers' Club.

Larry Martin, a second-grade teacher at Belinder Elementary School in Prairie Village, Kansas, won the "Jeopardy!" Teachers Tournament in an episode that aired Friday. He claimed the $100,000 grand prize and secured an automatic berth in the next edition of the "Jeopardy!" Tournament of Champions. Claire Bishop, a Latin teacher at Tates Creek High School in Lexington, Kentucky, placed second and took home $50,000. Steve Mond, a math teacher at Real Salt Lake Academy in Herriman, Utah, finished in third place and earned $25,000.

The New York State Public Service Commission announced the cost for electricity is expected to remain near historically low levels this summer. In addition, peak power demand forecasts continue to fall thanks in large part to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) strategy. The decline in the amount of electricity consumed during the year helps lower costs for consumers and helps save the environment by reducing air pollution from power plants.

In advance of Kids to Parks Day, celebrated nationwide on May 19, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced more than 500 Connect Kids to Parks Field Trip Grants have been awarded to schools from Western New York, sending 32,000 school students on visits to public lands throughout the western regions of New York state, including Niagara, Erie, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua counties since September 2017.

Girl Scouts of Western New York has announced Camille Chambless of Buffalo as a 2018 Gold Award Girl Scout. Chambless' project, "The Give and Take Closet," provides donated clothes to those in need. The closet is run two to three days a week at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.
