The Ontario Junior Hockey League Governors' Showcase returns to Harborcenter for the fourth straight year Monday, Sept. 24, through Wednesday, Sept. 26. All 22 OJHL teams will make their way to downtown Buffalo and compete in two games over the course of the event.

Provident Label Group/Sony Music and Grammy Award-winning artist Zach Williams has released a special EP titled "Survivor: Live From Harding Prison." The six-song project was recorded live earlier this summer from the Nashville-based prison where Williams and his band performed an acoustic set of his hits, along with Bethel Music's "No Longer Slaves," for 250 men who are currently incarcerated.

The television home of the Golden Globe Awards for the past 23 years, NBC has signed a new eight-year deal with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and dick clark productions that begins with the upcoming telecast from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The three-hour telecast will air live on NBC coast to coast at 8 p.m. ET Jan. 6, 2019. Nominations will be announced on Dec. 6.

On Thursday afternoon, coworkers and local elected leaders joined Ellicott Development CEO William Paladino as he broke ground on property overlooking a new plaza project. His company, in 2012, purchased a 4.1-acre parcel of land at Center, North Eighth and Onondaga streets. Three buildings offering a mix of commercial and culinary tenants, as well as rental spaces, are expected to open in the next year.

Parks & Trails New York and the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, with support from Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, announced the fourth round of $500,000 in competitive grants through the NYS Park and Trail Partnership Program funded through the NYS Environmental Protection Fund. The grants are available to organizations that support parks, trails, historic sites and public lands, and are administered by PTNY, in partnership with OPRHP.

It wasn't the best start for the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons football team Thursday night, but in the end, the team prevailed in its first road game of the season.
The Falcons rolled over the Hamburg Bulldogs, 35-12, Thursday night at Howe Field on the Hamburg High School campus.
