Many online platforms list cars, trucks, vans and RVs for very low prices, with sellers offering to make third-party delivery arrangements if the buyer pays via an escrow account. In reality, neither the automobile nor the escrow company exists - leaving the buyer without their money or a vehicle.

Genre-spanning, Dove Award-winning vocalist Lynda Randle is set to ring in the season Oct. 16 with "White Christmas," her first full-length holiday offering in more than a decade. The 11-song Gaither Gospel Series release, available for preorder now, was produced by Jason Clark (The Singing Contractors, Michael English) and Randle. Singer/Songwriter Andrew Farriss celebrates the 30th anniversary of the multi-Platinum-selling album "X," released on this day 30 years ago (Sept. 25, 1990) from the world-renowned band INXS. Farriss, a founding member of the band, played keyboard and provided backing vocals and other instrumentation. With INXS, he has sold over 60 million records, received multiple Grammy nominations, and an induction into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 2001. "X" was INXS' seventh studio album.

Grammy-Award winning and multi-RIAA Platinum-selling group Casting Crowns releases a deluxe edition of their 2018 album, "Only Jesus." The Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum is holding a curbside Chiavetta's chicken dinner pick-up from 3-6 p.m. Friday Oct. 9. Dinners are $12 each in advance, and include Famous Chiavetta's Chicken, potato salad, coleslaw and a dinner. A portion of each dinner sold will help the museum to recover some of the lost event revenue the museum faces due to COVID-19.

Harold Alvin Reid passed away on Sept. 15, 2020. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Loretta (Rigo) Reid; devoted father of Nicole Reid (Joshua Heit), Deborah Reid-McDonnell (Sean McDonnell), brother of Leland (Anna) Reid, uncle to John (Amy) Reid, and Richard Reid and Robert Marisa; brother-in-law to Luisa Rigo, Orlando Rigo, and Mario Marisa. He is also survived by loving extended family and friends.

Last Friday, the United Way of Greater Niagara announced the start of its 2020 fundraising campaign at the Four Points Sheridan Hotel in Niagara Falls. The organization says this year's campaign, which will run through Nov. 30, is more critical than ever as community groups continue to struggle with the effects of COVID-19. Funds raised throughout will continue to support 29 agencies focused on a spectrum of human services throughout the Niagara Region.

The story surrounding the sale of a former farmland site in the Town of Niagara took a number of interesting turns this week. The Town of Niagara Farmland Conservancy says it will file a lawsuit against the George Mannoe family, the former owners of a 26-acre parcel located on the east side of Miller Road after they decided to sell to another buyer, Alexis Johnson.
