Frontiers Music Srl announced the signing of singer James Durbin to the label for a multi-album deal under the moniker "Durbin." The companies urge drivers to take charge of eliminating distractions by focusing on the road ahead as visual and mental attention is key to safe driving.

In 2016, the legendary David Bowie left this planet far too soon. In 2020, the live music industry was shuttered due to the coronavirus pandemic. On Jan. 8, 2021, a star-studded group of musicians and vocalists - including those who grew up with his music as well as his friends and bandmates who worked with him and knew him best - will come together on the weekend of the fifth anniversary of Bowie's passing (what would have been his birthday) to reconnect, heal and share the music that has meant so much to so many.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced California was added to New York state's COVID-19 travel advisory. No areas were removed. The advisory requires individuals who have traveled to New York from areas with significant community spread to quarantine for 14 days. The quarantine applies to any person arriving from an area with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents over a seven-day rolling average, or an area with a 10% or higher positivity rate over a seven-day rolling average.

Scams related to online purchases, already on the rise, spiked more at the start of the pandemic, according to new research by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). A staggering 80.5% of people reporting online purchase scams in 2020 lost money. Which is a jump from 71.2% in 2015, when BBB began collecting data.

Tom Reubens, a graduate of the Wilson Central School District (Class of 2007), was an All-State athlete and scholar, with a great love of history and nature. His life was cut short by a little known cardiac illness called Brugada syndrome. In his honor, the Reubens family has created a scholarship to support student athletes, and Niagara Family Medicine Associates has donated a tree that was planted at Wilson Elementary School last Friday.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, Old Fort Niagara will celebrate that history and present French Heritage Day in cooperation with the American Association of Teachers of French.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on Sunday announced the recent acquisition of 525 acres in the town of North Collins, Erie County, to create the Clear Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA). The land offers hunting, fishing, trapping, wildlife viewing and other recreational opportunities and becomes the largest state-owned WMA in Erie County.
