Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) announced plans for major improvements to the north breakwater in the Buffalo Harbor thanks to $13.5 million in federal funding. The resources were included in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District's funding allocation work plan released this week.

The Federal Trade Commission is taking legal action against three ticket brokers based in New York who allegedly used automated software to illegally buy up tens of thousands of tickets for popular concerts and sporting events, then subsequently made millions of dollars reselling the tickets to fans at higher prices.

Provident Label Group/Essential Worship's SEU Worship will release the second installment of their mixtape project - "Clouds Are Clearing: Mixtape 1B," on Feb. 19. The first chapter, "Clouds Are Clearing: Mixtape 1A," released in November. Last week, the group released the first song and title track from the upcoming release, featuring Hollyn.

At Tuesday's North Tonawanda Common Council meeting, city officials bid a congratulatory farewell to Superintendent of Water, Wastewater & Water Distribution Bill Davignon, who is set to retire this week. Davignon had worked at the plant for over 30 years and was appointed the supervisor role in 2016 by the Mayor Arthur G. Pappas and the Common Council.

Andrew Cuomo on Thursday announced the Department of Financial Services' newly formed Office of Pharmacy Benefits has initiated investigations into significant price spikes for six drugs that were connected to the COVID-19 pandemic by sending a demand pursuant to New York Insurance Law Section 111 requiring a statement from the manufacturer explaining the facts and circumstances surrounding the spikes.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday announced the completion of the Mandela Market's expansion project on the East Side of Buffalo. The $145,000 expansion, at 272 E. Ferry S., was supported by funding from the state's East Side Corridor Economic Development Fund and Buffalo Billion II initiative. It is designed to provide greater access to fresh fruit and vegetables for a neighborhood partially covered by a USDA-designated second standard food desert.
