On Wednesday, the Buffalo City Mission held its third Buffalo Bills community meal, and the first at the Alfiero Family Center of Hope and Promise. Meals were served by seven Buffalo Bills coaches and prepared by chef Darian Bryan of The Plating Society. Guests included members of the City Mission's transitional housing program and emergency shelter guests.

On Tuesday, New York State Sen. Sean Ryan and Assemblyman Bill Conrad announced their legislation (S.6171B/A.6740), which will allow Amigone Funeral to relocate its Sheridan Park Crematory to a nonresidential area approved by the Town of Tonawanda, has passed both the Senate and Assembly. The legislation now heads to Gov. Andrew Cuomo's desk for his signature.

The New York State Senate has confirmed Gov. Andrew Cuomo's nomination of Bethaida Gonzalez as a new member of the New York Power Authority board of trustees and the Canal Corp. board of directors. Gonzalez, a Syracuse resident, is the first Latina to serve on the NYPA board.

USAF Civil Air Patrol cadets from the Niagara Falls Composite Squadron No. 1 will participate in raising the 15-foot stars and stripes at Stavatti's newly acquired facility at 9400 Porter Road in the Town of Niagara. The flag-raising, set for noon Sunday, June 13, will be the first time in more than 17 years that "Old Glory" is permanently flown from the 70-foot mast - since the former U.S. Army Reserve Center was closed and sold to the Town of Niagara.

The New York state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) announced all New Yorkers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will receive at least the maximum allowable level of food benefits for June, a benefits distribution that will push more than $200 million in federal aid into the state's recovering economy.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday proposed legislation to waive taxes on grants from the $800 million COVID-19 Pandemic Small Business Recovery Grant program. Applications for the program will be accepted starting June 10 for small and micro businesses and small for-profit independent arts and cultural organizations to help them recover from the economic impact of the pandemic.

Known as the "100 Deadliest Days," the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day is the time when young people lose their lives most frequently in car crashes, as well as other destructive decisions. Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski said Niagara County will once again honor Purple Heart veterans by adding their name to county's "Book of Honor" at a ceremony to be held Aug. 7.
