On Friday, New York State Park Police Det. Sgt. Brian P. Nisbet released the following: The body which was recovered on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2021, from the Lower Niagara River near Niagara on the Lake in Canada has been positively identified as Kameron D. Stenzel of Sanborn, New York. Stenzel was last seen in the Lower Niagara River near the whirlpool on Oct. 11, 2021.

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Tuesday announced all New Yorkers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for October. Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp. met Tuesday and authorized construction contracts totaling $13 million for the Terminal B renovations project on Buffalo's Outer Harbor. The project will create a new outdoor events center and surrounding open space by rehabilitating a vacant structure and utilizing existing parking, while reclaiming seven acres of contaminated property to open additional public access with new lake views.
