National Grid has provided an economic development grant in the amount of $300,000 to fund the Heritage Point project in the City of Buffalo. The funding was provided through the company's portfolio of economic development programs, which was designed to support a variety of initiatives that bolster the area economy. At the direction of Mayor Byron Brown, the dome of Buffalo City Hall will remain lit in orange through Sunday, May 29, in memory of the victims of the tragic May 14 mass shooting at the Tops Market on Jefferson Avenue. The orange lighting is also in memory of the 19 children and two teachers lost in the May 24 shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

New York State Sen. Sean Ryan and the Senate majority passed legislation (S.121B) designed to improve Holocaust education in New York schools. The bill, sponsored by Sen. Anna Kaplan and Assembly member Nily Rozic, has already passed the Assembly and now heads to Gov. Kathy Hochul's desk for her signature. Ryan is a co-sponsor of the legislation.

At 5:23 a.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received numerous 911 calls reporting a commercial structure fire at the Shawnee Golf Course in the Town of Wheatfield. Responding deputies found the structure to be fully involved on the north end, which was determined to be a maintenance garage for the business.
