D'Youville President Lorrie A. Clemo, Ph.D., and the board of trustees on Friday announced an extraordinary milestone in the 113-year-old history of the institution. D'Youville has been granted university status by the New York State Board of Regents and is now designated as D'Youville University. Touro College and Utica College were also approved for university designation.

After a national search, the board of directors at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens announced Mark Mortenson will be appointed as the new president and CEO. Mortenson will step into the role following the retirement of David Swarts in March. Swarts will be retiring after 12 years with the organization.

The Erie County Department of Health is reminding Erie County residents they can seek free coronavirus testing. ECDOH has updated its procedures to make rapid (ID Now) testing available to any resident on request. Previously, rapid testing was only available from ECDOH for individuals with COVID-19 symptoms or those with a known exposure.
