Gov. Kathy Hochul, Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday announced the start of construction on the Bills' new, state-of-the-art $1.54 billion stadium in Orchard Park.

Motor-vehicle crash in Porter

On Saturday, June 3, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communications center received a 911 call reporting a single motor-vehicle accident into a barn in the area of Braley Road and Dickersonville Road in the Town of Porter. Before deputies arrived on scene, the single male occupant was able to extricate himself from the vehicle and walk out of the semi-demolished barn.
Local NAMI affiliate expands service area

The region's affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, formerly known as NAMI Buffalo & Erie County, has been approved to expand its geographic service area to include the counties of Niagara, Orleans, Wyoming, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua. To better reflect this expansion, NAMI-NYS and the national organization granted approval for the name change to NAMI Buffalo & Western New York.
National average for gas prices down

Today's national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.55, three cents lower than last Monday. One year ago, the price was $4.85. The New York state average is $3.70, down one cent since last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $4.87.

Today, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced it will make available $25 million to public housing authorities (PHAs) for HUD's Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Mobility Services. He said the idea for "...Not Always Homeless" came to him as he would see homeless individuals in and around his hometown of Niagara Falls. Loss knew they were not always homeless, so he decided to write a book about them.
