Iam Tongi is the new ‘American Idol’
Iam Tongi was announced as the season 21 “American Idol” winner during Sunday’s live, coast-to-coast grand finale event on ABC.
The show featured special performances from music legends and today’s top artists, with the Top 3 contestants taking the stage for the final time as America voted Tongi as the next “American Idol.”
In addition to runner-up Megan Danielle and third-place finisher Colin Stough, superstar judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie all performed, along with guest mentor Keith Urban. “Idol” alums Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard plus Ellie Goulding, James Blunt, Jazmine Sullivan, Jelly Roll, Kevin Cronin from REO Speedwagon, Kylie Minogue, Lainey Wilson, Lauren Daigle, Pitbull with Lil Jon and TLC also took the “Idol” stage for the epic season finale event.
Tongi’s new single, “I'll Be Seeing You,” was created in honor of his late father. The song is now available for purchase.
