The Niagara Wine Trail is celebrating the holiday season with a weekend "Holiday Happenings" event, Saturday, Dec. 3, and Sunday, Dec. 4. Guests will receive three tastes of wine at 12 participating wineries, as well as a limited-edition keepsake jigsaw puzzle, which features the Niagara Wine Trail's new illustrated map.

Gendron of Conklin, New York, pleaded guilty that morning before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to the highest charges in the indictment against him. The Grand Island Town Board signed off on an amended version of Local Law No. 7 at its work session last week. The measure allows for board approval of a detailed site plan and Planned Unit Development designation for the Radisson Hotel Niagara Falls-Grand Island complex at Whitehaven and east River roads.

Trustees in the Village of Lewiston voted Monday to approve a motion increasing the municipal water rate 8 cents - from $3.95 to $4.03 per 100 cubic feet of usage - effective Jan. 1, 2023. Mayor Anne Welch stressed this action is the result of an equal rate increase from the Niagara County Water District.

The Lewiston-Porter graduate will face Alexander Hernandez on Dec. 10 in "Ultimate UFC 282," a mixed-martial arts card at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Gov. Kathy Hochul announced $9 million in state funding for a loan repayment program to help community mental health agencies recruit and retain psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners. Administered by the New York State Office of Mental Health, the Community Mental Health Loan Repayment Program will provide loan repayments of up to $120,000 for psychiatrists and $30,000 for psychiatric nurse practitioners, provided they remain employed by licensed community mental health programs for three years.
