The Lockport Ward of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced a “Messiah Sing-in,” a new Christmas event for the local area. The event comprises a select group of choruses and a couple of solos. It offers a way for singers and audience members to remember past personal performances or events, as well as a chance to raise their voices and “make a joyful noise to the Lord.”
“This is a tremendous opportunity for area musicians to get to fellowship with one another,” says Benjamin Kay, bishop of the Lockport Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “All of us love singing at Christmas, and this gives us a chance to remember the real
reason for the holiday.”
The singing will be held at the Lockport meetinghouse at 6339 Hamm Road, just off South Transit Road, at 7 p.m. Dec. 8.
Organizers noted people from all communities and churches are welcome. Admission is free, but singers should bring their own copies of the vocal score (limited copies will be available). For the benefit of all, no perfume should be worn. No rehearsals are needed; just show up and sing. There may be brief notes for singers. Refreshments and mingling following the singing.
Free parking is available. For more information, contact Viki Parker at 716-778-5172 or [email protected].
