New York State Homeland Security and Emergency Services agency recently announced it awarded Erie County a grant for $1.2 million under the NYS 2020 Statewide Interoperable Communications Grant (SICG). The program allows for state support to aid counties and local public safety organizations in enhancing emergency response, improving capability, facilitating improvements in governance structures, and infrastructure development.

Arts Services Inc. and the Buffalo Jewish Federation have announced the inaugural recipients of the "Made in Buffalo - Cheryl Stern Performing Artist Fund," named for Buffalo native Cheryl Stern. The New York State Division of Consumer Protection (DCP) and the state Department of Public Service is alerting consumers of phone calls in which scammers, pretending to be from electric companies, are looking for overdue payments - and threatening to suspend electricity services unless they receive a payment immediately. Payment has been requested by means of untraceable services such as gift cards, and money transfer apps, including PayPal and Zelle.
