The Buffalo Sabres have announced the annual Buffalo Sabres Golf Tournament will take place Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Wanakah Country Club in Hamburg. Registration for the tournament will begin at 9:30 a.m. with an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start.

Marnie LaVigne, who has guided University at Buffalo economic development efforts since 2005, including helping UB and its partners establish Buffalo's life sciences sector, has been named CEO of Launch NY.
LaVigne, Ph.D., associate vice president for economic development at UB, will end her tenure at UB and assume leadership of Launch NY in July. One of the founders of Launch NY and a member of its board, LaVigne will focus her efforts in the CEO role on repositioning the young nonprofit organization to coordinate with evolving economic development efforts that target entrepreneurship as a key to the region's economic future and job market.

The Western New York Power Proceeds Allocation Board today recommended $625,000 in funding to two Western New York enterprises: Praxair Inc. and the Niagara Falls International Airport Stakeholders Group Inc. In total, the latest projects recommended for funding awards are expected to create 22 jobs, result in investments by project applicants of nearly $39 million, and ensure the long-term economic success of entities in Niagara County.

The Buffalo Sabres and the National Hockey League announced the team's 2014-15 regular-season schedule. The variable ticket pricing designations for individual games will be released at a later date.
Buffalo opens its season at home on Thursday, Oct. 9, against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and then embarks on one of the season's busiest stretches, with 11 games scheduled over 22 days in October, and a four-game road trip from Oct. 22-28.

Ken Slaugenhoupt and David Giusiana, two prominent Village of Lewiston Planning Board members, are stepping down.
"I notified the mayor a couple weeks ago that I didn't want to be re-considered when they re-organize the Planning Board in July," Chairman Slaugenhoupt said Thursday. "I did not resign, but I am not going to be continuing at the transition in July."
Past Chairman Giusiana resigned Wednesday, following Mayor Terry Collesano's re-election Tuesday.
