Mount St. Mary's Hospital has announced the appointment of Mark Carl, R.N., to the position of director of critical care and medical/surgical. The appointment was announced by Jessica Visser, vice president, patient care services.

The 13th annual Fairground Festival of Lights concludes its 18-day run this Saturday at the Fairgrounds in Hamburg. A time-honored Western New York holiday tradition, the festival is open an expanded weekday schedule through Saturday, Dec. 23, to accommodate those who want to get one last request to Santa or view over 1 million twinkling lights.

Thanks to artists from Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara, several walls at Mount St. Mary's Hospital are now adorned with artwork. Displays have been placed in four separate areas for the enjoyment of physicians, staff and visitors. Some of the artists recently visited the hospital to view the displays.

Mountains of pillows and a roomful of toiletries greeted Passage House Domestic Violence Services staff when they arrived at the City of Niagara Falls Department of Public Works on Monday afternoon. For the past six weeks, United Steelworkers Local No. 9434 and Women of Steel have collected shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, body wash, combs, pillows and sheets for the Family & Children's Service of Niagara program. Most items were purchased and donated, while others were handmade and personally delivered.
