U.S. Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, NY-28, announced last week that more federal money could be on the way for the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. The funds would go toward building a Joint Operations Center helping the air base follow guidelines set forth by the BRAC Commission in 2005.
Radio operators assist at event

Niagara County amateur radio operators assisted in radio communications during the recent 10K run on the Tuscarora Nation. Amateur radio operators were stationed at various checkpoints to provide emergency communications for the runners if needed.

Early morning showers gave way to afternoon sunshine and hot temperatures last Friday at the Big R. A total of 98 cars filled the pit area for the night's races sponsored by Jetport Lounge, Niagara's Lazy Lakes Camping Resort and the Talking Phone Book. Kid's rides for the first 200 youngsters started the night off followed by hot racing action.
