Erie County District Attorney Flynn instates school critical incident initiative

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced his office finalized the ECDA school critical incident initiative and will begin collaborating with school districts and law enforcement to improve investigative response to school threats.

Erie County clerk's office partners with Unyts for blood drive

On Wednesday, April 25, the Erie County clerk's office is teaming up with Unyts to host a blood drive at the Eastern Hills Mall Auto Bureau. The blood drive will take place from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Eastern Hills Unyts Donation Center, across the hall from the auto bureau. United Way of Buffalo & Erie County: $21,726,833 in total revenue for 2017

Officials at the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County have announced a grand total of $21,726,833 in revenue, which represents a significant increase from the previous year. Cuomo: $5 million investment marks major milestone at Buffalo's historic Central Terminal

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Friday announced a $5 million investment from the Buffalo Billion Initiative that will support the implementation of the Urban Land Institute's recommendations for the historic East Side landmark, Buffalo Central Terminal. Funding will be administered by the Central Terminal Restoration Corp., and will focus the investments on restoring the terminal's historic concourse in order to make the space fully functional for community and private use.

On Saturday afternoon, local high school basketball talent stormed into Niagara Falls High School for the annual PAL/ACE all-star games. The day of basketball included a freshman/sophomore game, as well as a junior/senior game. Each team, for both games, included a mix of the classes. Attendees who showed paid $5 for a ticket and all proceeds earned were donated to the Niagara Police Athletic League.

On Thursday, the Erie County Legislature voted to approve Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns' request to hire 11 additional civil service employees for the county auto bureaus. The resolution passed through a bipartisan effort. Kearns will use these new positions to add additional Saturday services at the Northtowns Auto Bureau in Tonawanda.

Niagara County Water District announces scheduled maintenance

The Niagara County Water District has announced that, on Tuesday, April 17, it will conduct a scheduled drinking water transmission shutdown maintenance operation in northern parts of Niagara County. The maintenance is expected to affect the towns of Royalton, Ridgeway, Somerset, Hartland, Lockport, Newfane and Shelby, as well as the villages of Barker, Middleport and Medina.
