Niagara County summer youth employment program now accepting applications

Niagara County Employment & Training announced applications are being accepted for the department's summer youth employment program (SYEP). In order to be considered for the program, applicants must be a county resident, be between 14-20 years-old (must turn 14 by May 14 and cannot turn 21 until after Aug. 27), and meet income guidelines.
NYPA partners with Town of Tonawanda, City of Tonawanda to install more than 7,600 LED streetlights

The New York Power Authority, the Town of Tonawanda and the City of Tonawanda announced the installation of energy-efficient LED streetlights throughout the municipalities as part of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Smart Street Lighting NY, a statewide program that calls for at least 500,000 streetlights throughout the state to be replaced with LED technology by 2025.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday signed legislation (S.2588-A/A.3354-B) granting public and private employees time off to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Under this new law, employees will be granted up to four hours of excused leave per injection that will not be charged against any other leave the employee has earned or accrued.
