Niagara County seeks help of residents in completing health survey

The Niagara County Department of Health is working closely with the three local hospitals, its mental health and substance abuse department, and community partners - forming the Niagara County Community Health Workgroup - to "identify priority areas to build a plan to improve the health of our communities." The workgroup is conducting a collaborative community health assessment to understand the health needs and concerns of the local communities.

Health information management vendor identifies and addresses email security incident

Ciox Health, a company that provides health information management services to providers and insurers across the U.S., is working with its customers, including Catholic Health, to notify patients whose information may have been part of an incident involving unauthorized access to a Ciox employee's email account. About 1,300 hospital and primary care patients in Catholic Health are affected and will be receiving a letter from Ciox in the coming days.

The Niagara County Center for Economic Development announced the launch of the new Niagara County Façade Program (NCFP). Catholic Health announced Tuesday it has secured orders from several investors for $58.5 million in bonds to fund construction of its Lockport Memorial Hospital. In addition to the new hospital, which will become a campus of Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Niagara County, the bond financing will support cardiac catheterization room renovations at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, and other small infrastructure projects across the system.

$232 million in additional food assistance for New Yorkers in March

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced all New Yorkers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for March. All households participating in SNAP - including those already at the maximum level of benefits -will receive a supplemental allotment this month, which will result in New York state's economy receiving roughly $232 million in federal funding.
