NCHS to present program on Niagara County's historic international bridges

The Niagara County Historical Society will present “International Bridges of Niagara,” a free public program covering the history of the bridges, at Lockport’s Historic Palace Theatre at 7 p.m. Monday, March 21.

Ray Wigle, a member of the NCHS staff, will give an illustrated talk about the complex, interesting background of the modern-day bridges across the Niagara Gorge. Members of the audience will hear about the engineering triumphs – and failures – that brought about today’s vital travel and transport links between the U.S. and Canada at the western edge of Niagara County.

The program is part of the Historical Society’s ongoing lecture series hosted by the Palace Theatre. Admission will be free of charge, but donations to the Palace will be gratefully accepted.

Future 2022 lecture series programs at the Palace will include Buffalo Bill and his WNY connections; first-person history; presidential visits to Niagara County; Cold Springs Cemetery; and Niagara County’s connections to the Titanic.
