Old Fort Niagara honors volunteers, looks to recruit tour guides

Old Fort Niagara's volunteers contributed 38,305 hours to the historic site in 2016, and 371 of them were courtesy of Jeffery Dzialak of the Town of Niagara, who was recently honored as the fort's 2016 Volunteer of the Year.

Cecconi brings home gold with Team USA

Joseph Cecconi, a native of Youngstown, competed on Team USA for the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Hockey Tournament in Montreal. He was one of 23 players from around the U.S. who competed, and brought home the gold by defeating Team Canada in a final 5-4 shootout victory on Jan. 5.

Western New York Land Conservancy aims to restore Niagara Gorge

The Western New York Land Conservancy has just secured almost $1 million for the new "Restore the Gorge" project. Funding comes from the Niagara River Greenway Ecological Standing Committee, and will be used to begin ecological restoration work in one of the most important natural places in the world: the Niagara Gorge.
