North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur G. Pappas announced that a new webcam was purchased by the city and installed at Gateway Harbor Park.

The new camera replaces an older unit that was more than 13 years old and no longer working.

Over the years, since the camera was initially installed, the viewership became increasingly popular with local residents, boaters, and even television stations. The new webcam spans along the Erie Canal from the Delaware Street Bridge and ends at the entrance of Gateway Harbor Park at the intersection of Sweeney and Webster street.

Funding for the new webcam was made available from the city's share of casino funds, received from Niagara County Legislators Randy Bradt, Rich Andres, and Kathryn Palka-Lance.

"The webcam is well-liked by our residents, along with many outside of our community," Pappas said. "This camera will not only show the beautiful venue of the Erie Canal and Gateway Harbor Park, but it will also show the weather conditions and the activities of the various events held at this admired venue.

The webcam can be accessed from three websites including: www.northtonawanda.org,www.the-tonawandas.com, www.lumbercitydc.com.
