The Alzheimer's Association of Western New York is overseeing two new monthly social respite programs in Niagara County. These community social programs are set to provide a safe environment for those with dementia to socialize and engage in meaningful activities, while allowing their care partners time to refresh and tend to their own health and other commitments.

The Lewiston Town Board gave its OK on a new a solar facility under its new solar law on Monday. Specifically, it approved a special use permit to allow for construction of a proposed utility scale solar energy project on property owned by Town Building/Zoning Inspector Tim Masters at 1897 Swann Road.

Niagara County Community College distinguished alumna and nationally acclaimed artist Susan Geissler, Class of 1974, recently donated a sculpture to the NCCC Child Development Center. The sculpture, "Puddle Jumper," is based on childhood memories of rainy-day playtimes. It will be permanently displayed in the center's foyer inside the new NCCC Learning Commons on the Sanborn campus.

Lewiston's 35th annual craft show is receiving an upgrade this year with the inclusion of craft beers. The renamed Lewiston Harvest & Hops Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22-23.
