The Lewiston Council on the Arts announced Town of Lewiston Councilman John Jacoby has joined this year's Marble Orchard Ghost Walk cast.
Jacoby, an accomplished actor, has recently been featured in Subversive Theatre's "Grapes of Wrath" as well as several Theatre in the Mist Christmas shows, including "Miracle on 34th St."
In the Marble Orchard, Jacoby portrays the legendary Judge Sherbourne Piper, one of Niagara County's first judges. Piper was nicknamed "The Hangin' Judge" and is buried in the Village Cemetery.
The LCA said, "Judge Piper wasn't really such a bad fella ... but back in those days there was no plea-bargaining. Justice was swift and final, and criminals were hung by the neck in what was called, back then, the 'Niagara Neck Tie!' "
Jacoby said, "Playing the part of Sherbourne Piper will be a significantly different character than any I've ever played, and the graveyard setting will be a first for me. Having attended the Marble Orchard Ghost Walk in the past, I am delighted to be a part of it. I hope to see many of my friends attend."
