The Lewiston-Porter Central School District welcomed Heather Lyon as the new assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction and technology.
Lyon, pictured, most recently was the director of elementary education at the Kenmore Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District. She is a graduate of Alfred State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She continued her studies at the University at Buffalo, where she attained her Master's degree in education and a Ph.D. in educational administration. Some additional highlights of her career include working as an English teacher, staff developer, principal, director of instruction and superintendent.
"I am also a very proud wife and mother," Lyon said. "My husband, Howard, and I have three active children: Nolan, age 12; Lilia, age 10; and Oliver, almost 8. Though neither Howard nor I are originally from the Buffalo/Niagara area, we are proud to call it our home now. In fact, we are Niagara County residents."
She said her door is always open to a student or parent.
"I am a parent and teacher, so, like you, I know what it's like to be on the other end," Lyon said.
