Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Rohmelo K. Lewis, age 24, of Niagara Falls, plead guilty in County Court this week to the crimes of manslaughter in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

At the Grand Island Memorial Library, approximately 300 voters come in Tuesday to cast ballots. Voter turnout was steady all day, unlike the presidential primary, when approximately 50 people came to vote. People who live in two election districts vote at the library. The districts were recently renumbered, although no district boundaries were changed.

The 66th season of racing at the Ransomville Speedway officially began on Friday night for the annual "Test, Tune, and Time." Seventy-one cars signed in pitside to open the 2024 campaign. Members of the Lewiston Town Board voted by a 3-2 margin Monday evening to endorse Local Law No. 2 of 2024. The board's action, which followed plenty of debate, now essentially prohibits the operation of short-term/transient rentals. The decision comes off a contentious March 11 public hearing on the issue, and comments both for and against short-term rentals operating in local neighborhoods.
