On Friday at 6:52 p.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office dispatch center received a call reporting a house fire at 279 Pettit St., in the Village of Wilson. NCSO deputies responded and confirmed the large, two-story residence had smoke showing from the eaves of the roof. The residence was evacuated prior to patrol's arrival. The fire was subsequently extinguished by members of the Wilson, South Wilson and Olcott volunteer fire companies.
The residence sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. No injuries were reported.
An investigation into the cause of the fire by the Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit is underway.
