Cuomo announces State Police to crack down on impaired driving through new year

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced New York State Police will increase patrols to crack down on impaired driving through the end of the year. The enforcement detail is part of the national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, which runs through Tuesday, Jan. 1. Drivers can expect to see sobriety checkpoints, along with more State Troopers, on roadways during this campaign.

North Tonawanda Clerk/Treasurer Daniel R. Quinn announced he will leave his current position to return to the office of the Niagara County clerk. In a corresponding move, Niagara County Deputy Clerk for Administration Matthew L. Parish will become the North Tonawanda clerk/treasurer, succeeding Quinn. Quinn will assume his position effective Jan. 8.

Anyone would agree that no child should go without at the holidays. The children at Starpoint's Regan Intermediate School pitched in to make sure that didn't happen for some local residents. The teachers felt it was an important lesson for the students to learn that the holidays should be focused on giving rather than receiving.  The students and their families opened up their hearts and the wallets to make the holiday season special for many less fortunate families.
