At 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, the Tonawanda Coke soil study team will host a community meeting to update the public about the progress of the study. This will include sharing information on geographic areas where contaminants of interest have been found. Holding a best-ever 100 percent of "The Goldbergs'" lead-in at 8:30 p.m. (tied with the "Speechless" debut retention), the premiere of "Schooled" topped ABC's most recent series debut in the half-hour by 18 percent in adults 18-49, besting last year's midseason opener of "Alex, Inc." (1.1/5 on March 28). In addition, the new ABC comedy delivered the Net's best series performance in the half-hour in 1 year. The Breast Cancer Network of WNY (BCN) presented a donation of $10,000 for metastatic breast cancer research to the Research Initiative Fund of the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester on Dec. 5, 2018. The donation will be used to help fund the coalition's annual grant awards to scientific researchers in Central and Western New York who are specifically studying metastatic breast cancer.

In basketball terms, when Niagara-Wheatfield and Grand Island stepped onto the hardwood inside N-WHS Tuesday night, the teams were battling to improve their record in the Niagara Frontier League and gain points for the sectional playoffs. As important as a win was, though, Tuesday night was a lot more than basketball.
The Falcons and Vikings joined in the 2019 Hoops for Hope game, which was played in honor of a friend close to each school's heart - Julie Neville.
