Calling all stylists, paparazzi, and anyone who likes to volunteer; Lumber City Church, 383 Vandervoort St., North Tonawanda, is looking for volunteers to be a part of Night to Shine. The church is in need of dozens of volunteers and monetary donations to make this prom for people with special needs a reality. The North Tonawanda church is one of nearly 500 churches around the world to host Night to Shine Friday, Feb. 8.

Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on pampering people with special needs ages 14 and older and their caregivers. Sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, this worldwide movement seeks to be a catalyst to change how culture embraces people with special needs and to rally people everywhere to stand up for those who are differently-abled.

Every guest of Night to Shine enters this complimentary event on a red carpet, complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi. Guests receive the royal treatment, including hair and makeup, shoe shining, limousine rides, corsages and boutonnieres, a catered dinner, karaoke, prom favors, and a dance floor, which all leads up to the moment when each guest is crowned king or queen of the prom.

Chad Rieselman, lead pastor of Lumber City Church said, “It’s so much more than asking for people to donate money and time. It’s giving the great people of Western New York the opportunity to be part of crowning every single one of our special guests as a king or queen, that their value isn’t defined by their abilities. Their value is so much more. They are valued by God and by all of us as kings and queens in his forever kingdom. Who wouldn’t want to be part of something so magical?”
