U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced Joseph Bella, 50, of Buffalo, who was convicted of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, being a drug user in possession of a firearm, and wire fraud, was sentenced to serve 42 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced 33-year-old Antonio B. Lee of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to 13 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos announced the annual statewide ban prohibiting residential brush burning begins March 16 and runs through May 14. Since 2009, DEC has enforced the annual brush burning ban to prevent wildfires and protect communities during heightened conditions for wildfires.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced more than $13.3 million has been awarded to help expand and preserve emergency and permanent supportive housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Funding was awarded to projects that will create 51 apartments in the Bronx and a new 80-bed emergency shelter for families in Erie County. Funding was also awarded to help make repairs to existing emergency shelters in Oneida and Chautauqua counties.

The inbound highway closure is necessary to accommodate the funeral service and procession for fallen Buffalo firefighter Jason Arno.
