Water shut-off in Town of Lewiston

The following streets will have their water shut off on Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m., Sept. 18 for a water system improvement project: Cayuga Drive, Cliff Street, Creek Road Ext., Hillside Drive, Hillview Court, Meadow Drive, Orchard Drive and Ridgeview Drive.
Eastern Niagara Hospital and Niagara Hospice partner for the seriously ill

Eastern Niagara Hospital and Niagara Hospice recently established a partnership to provide a high standard of care to seriously ill patients nearing the end of life. The two health care providers worked collaboratively to facilitate a contract that addresses the special needs of patients with a prognosis of approximately six months or less to live.

The special has been broadcast on CBS each year since its debut.

Schneiderman announces settlement with Sears over deceptive refund policy

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman announced this week that his office reached a settlement with Sears, Roebuck and Co. over a refund policy the retailer applied to consumers who participated in its "Come Back Cash" promotion. In the promotion, a consumer who purchased merchandise above a "qualifying threshold" amount was given a $10 or $20 promotional award card. However, if the consumer later returned some of the merchandise, Sears reduced the refund by a pro-rated amount of the value of the award card, even if the cost of the unreturned merchandise remained above the qualifying threshold and/or if the customer did not cash in the award.
