The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation on Monday work to replace deteriorated playgrounds at Whirlpool and DeVeaux State parks is currently underway, and Reservoir State Park will be the new home to an outdoor gym and fitness trail.

Deputy Treasurer Edward Walker had welcome news for the Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees on Monday. Thanks to an increase in property assessments, trustees can maintain the current tax rate - $7.38 per $1,000 of assessed valuation - and use less of the municipality's reserves.

Wild Kritters of Niagara County has been tending to wounded mammals, birds and reptiles for more than a decade. The organization is licensed by New York State and U.S. Fish and Wildlife to rehabilitate injured and orphaned wildlife.
