'Art of Jazz' series at Kleinhans Music Hall announced for 2022

In anticipation of the reopening of concert venues in time for the 2021-22 season, Kleinhans Music Hall announced the return of the "Art of Jazz" series in 2022 - including two of the shows canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, and introducing two additional performers for a four-concert series.

Three Catholic Health hospitals in Erie and Niagara counties have been recognized by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York for high-quality maternity care as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Sisters of Charity Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, and Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston were named Blue Distinction Centers (BDC) for Maternity Care. The three hospitals delivered more than 5,700 babies in 2019.

Catholic Health has again earned the Buffalo Niagara Region's highest cumulative overall score from The Leapfrog Group. In the spring 2021 Hospital Safety Grade Report, they earned the only "A" safety grades in Erie and Niagara counties. In fact, Kenmore Mercy and Mount St. Mary's hospitals earned two of the 16 "A" grades given in all of New York.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday signed an extension of the COVID-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2020 and the COVID-19 Emergency Protect Our Small Businesses Act. The legislation (S.6362-A/A.7175-A) extends protections prohibiting residential and commercial evictions, foreclosure proceedings, credit discrimination and negative credit reporting related to the COVID-19 pandemic until Aug. 31.

Health care organization Evergreen Health debuted Cabenuva (Cabotegravir and Rilpivirine), an HIV-1 treatment regimen approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in January and trialed by Evergreen's own physician, Dr. Alyssa Shon. Shon is also a physician in the division of infectious diseases in the department of medicine at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
